Can Man Take the Place of Nature? (L’uomo può sostituirsi alla natura?)
La scultura riproduce un pezzo di albero ma non vuole essere la riproduzione fedele di un albero com’è realmente.
Questo è un albero fatto in cemento, si vede e si deve vedere.
E’ una costruzione fatta dall’uomo e si deve vedere
E’ un falso e si deve vedere.
E’ un oggetto diroccato.
Quando guardiamo questo resto di albero, è come se fossimo già nel futuro ed osservassimo un reperto del passato, una testimonianza di un’epoca in cui l’uomo voleva sostituirsi alla natura creando inganni insostenibili.
L’opera è interamente in cemento e ferro con chiazze di vernice dorata.
La struttura ferrosa è visibile a causa di crepe e buchi nel cemento.
Pezzi di corteccia dorata aderiscono ancora alla superficie mentre altri giacciono a terra.
Il colore della corteccia è volutamente innaturale , cioè dorato, perché l’oro è il simbolo dell’idea di preziosità che ha l’uomo.

This sculpture reproduces a piece of tree, but it is not meant to be the true reproduction of a real tree. This is a tree made of concrete: it is easy to see and understand it is. It is a man-made manufacture and it has to be seen as such. It is a fake and it has to be seen as such. It is a ruined object. When we look at this piece of tree, it is as if we were already living in the future and watched a find of the past, the vestige of an age when man wanted to take the place of nature causing intolerable delusion. This work is entirely made of concrete and iron and painted in golden varnish blotches. The iron structure is visible because of some cracks and holes in the concrete. Pieces of golden bark are still attached to the surface, others lie on the ground. The colour of the bark is deliberately unnatural, i.e., golden, because gold symbolizes the great value it has in people's minds.
